Visit Sandpoint

Sandpoint is perhaps the most charming small town in Bonner County, if not the entire Idaho Panhandle. Friendly shops, excellent dining, and beautiful scenery make Sandpoint a must-visit for anyone planning a trip to our beautiful area. From its early days as a logging and rail town, to the opening of the tourism industry, Sandpoint has a rich and interesting history.
Sandpoint boasts the only Amtrak rail stop in Idaho, which is fitting considering the town’s rich rail history. Amtrak’s Empire Builder route runs from Portland/Seattle to Chicago, and the most beautiful sections of the route begin and end in Sandpoint. Plan an old-fashioned rail trip and let Sandpoint be your destination!
The legendary Schweitzer Mountain resort is located just next to Sandpoint, offering year-round recreation opportunities. If you prefer a quiet, relaxing vacation instead of outdoor thrills, Sandpoint is the place for you. Take in a show at the historic Panida Theatre, or take a walk downtown.

If you’re looking to plan your dream vacation to Sandpoint, there’s no better place to stay than one of the relaxing inns of the North Idaho Bed and Breakfast Association. Western Pleasures Guest Ranch offers a real dude ranch experience, and Huckleberry Hill Bed and Breakfast is just nine minutes from downtown. If you’re interested in visiting this little slice of small-town heaven, browse our website and book a room at one of our relaxing inns.

Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast

Step back to a simpler time and leave your modern worries behind. Deep in the woods of North Idaho is the small town of Clark Fork, and even deeper in those woods lies Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast.  Five miles from town and a short drive down a shady, well maintained gravel road, you’ll find the homestead of Tim and Christine Dick.  These two decided the industrial world wasn’t for them.  They went searching for a simpler, slower pace of life, and found it!
When you arrive, you’ll discover the owner-built cabin tucked into a forest clearing.  Next you’ll see the big garden where you are welcome to grab a basket and help yourself to fresh vegetables and berries.  A goat to pet and chickens that provide the eggs for the hearty breakfast served every morning, complete the homestead.
After snacking your way through the garden, head down the forest path to your tent.  With over 52 acres and only 3 sites, you’ll find a true wilderness experience.  Your camp is comfortably laid out with a thoughtfully furnished tent.  Beautiful quilts cover a comfy bed. A wood stove takes off the morning chill. Raise the canvas sides and screened walls help catch the evening breeze. There is also a separate kitchen (complete with a working old-fashioned pitcher pump!) to prepare your garden bounty.  End the day around the campfire, roast some marshmallows and contemplate the true joys of life.

You’ll soon notice that the owners are not just here to sell you a cozy tent to sleep in and a great breakfast.  Tim and Christine are here to sell you an idea, a way of life.  Ask them any question about their journey, and they’ll gladly answer it.  They encourage everyone to do just as they did - live a purpose filled life. Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast is not just a great get-away, it’s a great experience.
