A North Idaho Winter
For those seeking outdoor winter thrills, there’s no better place than the Idaho Panhandle. Opportunities to ski, snowboard, or hike in this beautiful winter wonderland are abundant, and what better place to serve as a base camp than the cozy inns of the North Idaho Bed and Breakfast Association? You are no more than an hour or two away from active ski hotspots!
If you’re searching for a quaint winter hike, look no further! The many hiking trails in our area make great snowshoeing destinations. A few inns, like the Aspen Meadows Bed and Breakfast, and the Cedar Mountain Farm, have hiking areas on site that guests are free to explore, and be treated to peaceful snow-covered foliage. Snow Shoe Magazine even suggests bed and breakfasts as a go-to snowshoe destination! A short drive into the national forests or nearby state parks will yield many wonderful hiking trails for your snowshoeing pleasure! If you enjoy the quiet solitude of nature, winter is most certainly the season for you! Of course, after a day of snowshoeing, it’s always nice to relax with a good book and a hot beverage at any of the association’s fine Bed and Breakfasts.
For the powder junkies, North Idaho just might be heaven. At any of the Bed and Breakfasts in the Association, you’re no more than 2 hours from legendary mountains boasting some of the best skiing and snowboarding you could ask for! Ride down Silver Mountain in beautiful Kellogg, or enjoy the stunning views of the legendary Schweitzer Mountain. You could start your ride in one state, and end in another at the Lookout Pass ski area, right on the Idaho-Montana border! Of course, a cozy Bed and Breakfast makes an excellent base camp for your skiing adventure. Fuel up with a hot, home cooked breakfast at one of our fine inns before heading up the mountain. You won’t find delicious meals like that at a ski lodge!
For those that like motorsports, the Coeur d’Alene National Forest has an extensive network of snowmobile trails, suspended high in the mountains. Just a 20-minute drive from the city of Coeur d’Alene is the beautiful Fernan Saddle, where you can choose many different trails to head out on! These trails snake all throughout the forest. Amazing mountain top views await you!

Be sure to book your stays with North Idaho Bed and Breakfast Association members! Warm and cozy rooms, friendly innkeepers, and delicious, home cooked breakfasts make North Idaho’s Bed and Breakfasts the premier lodging for all your outdoor winter activities.
